TikMonitor vs TikTok Live Studio: watching versus broadcasting
TikTok Live Studio is TikTok's official desktop app for broadcasting to Live, with scenes, overlays and game capture. TikMonitor is the opposite side of the stream: a dashboard for watching any public TikTok Live, with diamonds in USD, gift senders, chat and alerts. They do not overlap.

What TikTok Live Studio does better
We built one of these two products, so read this section first. These are the cases where TikTok Live Studio is the right answer and we are not.
- It is the only one of the two that can broadcast. Scenes, webcam, game capture and overlays are its whole purpose, and it is free and official.
- Native moderation tools for your own stream, including chat moderation while you broadcast.
- First-party access to your own stream's data, including numbers TikTok never exposes publicly to anyone else.
What TikMonitor does better
- Works on creators who are not you. Live Studio only shows your own broadcast; TikMonitor reads any public live.
- Keeps history. Live Studio is live-only; TikMonitor archives each session it watched, with replay and export.
- Alerts you when someone else goes live, which is not something a broadcasting tool has any reason to do.
FAQ
Is TikMonitor a replacement for TikTok Live Studio?
No, and it is not trying to be. Live Studio is broadcasting software: it puts your camera, scenes and overlays onto TikTok Live. TikMonitor is read-only and watches public streams from the outside. A creator who streams with Live Studio and studies competitors with TikMonitor is using both for their intended purpose.
Can I stream to TikTok with TikMonitor?
No. TikMonitor cannot broadcast anything. It reads public live streams and turns them into a dashboard, an archive and a set of alerts. To go live, use TikTok Live Studio or OBS with a stream key on eligible accounts.
Can TikTok Live Studio track another creator's earnings?
No. Live Studio shows data for the stream you are broadcasting. It has no view into anyone else's live. Watching another creator's diamonds, gifts and chat requires a tool reading the public stream from the viewer side.
Do I need Live Studio installed to use TikMonitor?
No. The two are unrelated. TikMonitor reads public TikTok Live streams regardless of what software the broadcaster used, whether that is Live Studio, OBS or the phone app.
