Follower-Only Chat (TikTok Live)

A chat mode that restricts messages to accounts following the creator for at least a set duration (e.g. 3 days). Cuts spam and drive-by trolls.

Why creators enable it

Follower-only reduces drive-by trolls, hate raids, and bots. Creators can require viewers to have followed for at least 3 days, 1 week, or 1 month. It's the single biggest spam-reduction lever on TikTok Live.

Trade-offs

Follower-only also mutes first-time visitors who might gift. Most creators toggle it on only during raids or PKs, then disable once things calm down. TikMonitor captures the setting-change events so you can correlate chat volume with moderation.

Monitoring chat composition

TikMonitor tags each chat message with whether the sender is a follower, how long they've followed, and whether they've gifted. You can filter the chat log by 'followers only', 'gifters only', or 'first-time visitors' to understand who's driving conversation.
